Semi-deletion (concept): Difference between revisions

'''Semi-deletion''', or '''pure wiki deletion''', was a {{tag|WikiIdea|proposal}}, initially raised in late [[:Category:FoundedIn2003|2003]], for a revamping of wikis' deletion processes on [[:Category:Wikipedia|Wikipedia]] that never materialised.  It would have established a new tier of deletion: page semi-deletion, in addition to the already-existing page deletion and revision deletion.  Brian Wolff remarked that it might suffice to give all [[user]]s power to view revisions of deleted pages (i.e. those stored in the {{tag|wiki}} sites' {{Mw|Manual:archive table|archive table}}).  A counter-argument to this was that pages deleted for being, say, [[copyvio]]s, would not be suitable to be viewed by all users.

The [[:Category:Copyright|copyright]] argument was completely bogus, the kind of thinking that got [[English Wikipedia]] trapped into endless controversy.  Actual copyvio could be actually deleted.  The proposal would not have kept illegal content!  If combined with routine [[WikiIndex:Protected page|protection]] of such pages, when deleted through a closed discussion, the continual problem of the re-creation of such pages would have been greatly reduced, it would then have required an admin action to allow the page to be unblanked.  On [[:Category:Wikiversity|Wikiversity]], an analogous processes was established by {{U|Abd}}.
