The word '[[Metapedia]]' is derived from two concepts from classical [[:Category:Greek|greek]]: '[[Cambridge-Dictionary:meta#meta-|metá]]' (''μετά'') that means '[[Cambridge-Dictionary:outside|outside]]' or '[[Cambridge-Dictionary:beyond|beyond]]'; and 'enkýklios paideía' (''ἐγκύκλιος παιδεία'') that means '[[Cambridge-Dictionary:encyclopaedia|encyclopaedia]]'.  The name has a dual symbolic meaning:

*Metapedia sets its focus on [[:Category:Wiki Topic|topics]] that usually are not covered in, i.e., that falls outside of, [[Cambridge-Dictionary:mainstream|mainstream]] encyclopaedias;

The possibility to [[Cambridge-Dictionary:influence|influence]] the language is vital if you want to shape people's [[:Category:Global|world view]].  The [[Metapedia-En:Frankfurt School|Frankfurt School]], and their [[Cambridge-Dictionary:ideological|ideological]] [[Cambridge-Dictionary:heir|heirs]] are good examples in this regard, and have been very successful in [[Cambridge-Dictionary:stigmatize|stigmatising]] previously natural and sound values and attitudes, and making them seem [[Cambridge-Dictionary:pathological|pathological]] by inventing and popularising concepts such as '[[Cambridge-Dictionary:xenophobia|xenophobia]]' and the like.  This clearly illustrates the power of language and words, and it is therefore important that we start re-conquering our languages.
