'''Encyc''', founded by [https://encyc.org/wiki/User:Auggie/Statement_of_principles 'Auggie'] in 2008, located at <tt>Encyc.org</tt>, from Cherry Hill, {{tag|New Jersey}}, USA, is a collaborative concise general interest {{tag|encyclopedia}}, similar to (but massively smaller than) the [[English Wikipedia]].  There are less rules on Encyc, and they encourage simplicity in language and writing style.  The site has much less content and most articles are very brief.

There was also the original [[Encyc (PmWiki)|PmWiki version]] of Encyc located at <tt>Encyc.org/pmwiki</tt>, but it could not be [[edit]]ed, and was [[:Category:Goal abandoned|closed]] mid 2014.

In 2019, this subsequent {{tag|MediaWiki}} powered wiki site became a restricted wiki which did not allow editing or viewing of contents.  However, as of May 2021, the MediaWiki wiki site returned to a fully functional site, with all pages viewable and editable.
