'''Vikidia''' is a multilingual {{tag|encyclopedia}} for {{tag|children}} and teenagers {{tag|founded in 2006}}. Though it is not a [[Wikimedia Foundation]] project, in some countries, Vikidia has collaborated with the Wikimedia Foundation to provide a more family-friendly resource, as opposed to the more uncensored format of a site like [[Wikipedia]]. The French Vikidia has over 30,000 articles, making it the largest edition of Vikidia, while the English version has just 4,000 articles, with the Italian and Spanish versions being in between, and several other language versions exist. This is one of very few wikis where preteens and teens are encouraged to contribute, and due to Vikidia being used in classrooms in various countries, there are quite a few people whose first wiki-editing experience was on Vikidia, and those who move past Vikidia often end up editing Wikimedia Foundation wikis. | |||
