:Looking it up on MediaWiki, it appears as though one of the five ConfirmEdit triggers would require use of a CAPTCHA on ''any'' edit. If I read it correctly, it appears as though the CAPTCHA is only required once, so, although annoying, this might solve the vandalbot problem.
