Deletion contested[edit]
It's a mainspace page covering vanity wikis in general. If it were intended as WikiIndex policy, it would be in the Project: namespace. Leucosticte (talk) 20:02, 7 January 2015 (UTC)
I think his complaint was about its content mentioning not existent consensus which I removed.
Unfortunately there is not even clear consensus or guideline or anything that would give a clear answer on where such article would go. Category:Glossary articles are distributed over 3 namespaces at least, like Main, Help and WikiIndex. that is one of the hundreds of unsolved problems her. - Yes. WikiIndex grew up without much organized structure. We are dealing with years of undisciplined page creation at Wikiversity. To clean it up may take us longer than it took to create the mess, few are interested in working on it. The founders were highly inclusive, and didn't understand that one can be highly inclusive and have organization. Gradually, consensus is developing and work to organize Wikiversity is proceeding. It's a huge task.
- The basic problem is that WikiIndex is an index of wikis. Then, in the same namespace, there are other "articles." That creates conflicts and ambiguities and obscurities. Hence there is a page just created as a glossary entry, Vanity wiki but it conflicts with an actual wiki name. And actual wiki names are different from the URL names. We can handle that with disambiguation pages, but best would be, I think, a separate namespace, maybe more than one. Glossary might indeed go into the Help namespace. However, glossaries should probably not have a separate page for each word! This is not Wiktionary. One page might be able to cover every term needing definition. It could also be in the WikiIndex namespace. --Abd (talk) 22:38, 7 January 2015 (UTC)
- If there's a naming conflict, then you have two pages, Vanity wiki (wiki) and Vanity wiki (idea) and a disambiguation page, vanity wiki. Leucosticte (talk) 22:53, 7 January 2015 (UTC)
