Template talk:Inactive
Tweaks to this template[edit]
Don't we still want the last reviewed date? TedErnst | talk 12:47, 15 Feb 2006 (EST)
I was also going to ask about preserving information, but that's all in the history so no worries. I'd just recommend using the edit summary to show when switching to the inactive template. TedErnst | talk 12:47, 15 Feb 2006 (EST)
Changing the name of the template to Inactive is all that's needed. The other information doens't need to be removed! TedErnst | talk 12:47, 18 Feb 2006 (EST)
Better named 'Offline'?[edit]
Maybe this would be better named 'Offline', otherwise it could be interpreted as a label for a wiki which is not very active ...still too late now really. -- Harry Wood 14:34, 2 Mar 2006 (EST)
- It's never too late! :-) Of course it'll be a big job to convert existing records from inactive to offline, but we could make a note on category inactive saying that template is deprecated and link to offline, and make a new offline template that's identical to inactive. You might want to put this on the Proposals page. TedErnst | talk 17:01, 2 Mar 2006 (EST)

Pondering a name change for this template[edit]
Thinking about Dead, Offline, WikiPassedOn or keep Inactive ...
- 'Inactive' could mean the wiki is in some temporary transition - maybe something like
'ThisWasOnceAFineWikiWithLotsOfEiting-ButIGotBored/ChangedJob/GotANewGirlfriend/MovedToAKibutz/GotRunOverByABus/Couldn'tAffordTheServerFees-ButNowIGotMyselfSorted/PaidMyDebt/KickedTheServerTires/Went2TheGym-WillRestartTheWikiIn2015' . . . Ambiguation and cryptic are bad . . . clarity is good. If a wiki is definately gone for good - then 'Dead' is probably the best terminology . . . IMVHO :p --Hoof Hearted 12:09, 10 January 2012 (PST)
