Hi! I'm sorry if you're not familiar with the MediaWiki API — it's pretty nifty, you definitely should read up on it! As such, I believe it'd make sense to restore the API URL you removed with this edit.
As for ads, I agree that most people don't love them, but as you're aware, they're a necessary evil. Describing them as page-cluttering is at best subjective, at worst inaccurate — the Internet is full of sites where obnoxious ads distract the overall experience a lot. Compared to such, two or three Google AdSense columns doesn't exactly sound like the end of the world; I'd argue it sounds rather modest in today's world.
