Copyright of Logos[edit]
- Large Wikis have copyrighted logos, this has to be respected.
- Wikis is non-english-Language may have copyright-notices in their language, this has to be respected.
- To include logos in this wiki, there should be a disclaimer, on the article- and image-page, that this logo is copyrighted by Wikimedia, USA or Stadtwiki, Germany or whoever and that the redistribution of this image is not allowed. A link to the source should also be given. If Wikimedia will accept this for the Wikipedia-logos, others will follow. --Kawana 14:23, 19 June 2006 (EDT)
Where should this disclaimer appear? I would prefer that this wiki adopt a Fair Use policy for all logos across the board, disclaiming any knowledge of their individual copyrights, pointing people wanting to re-use these images to the source wikis in question to assess copyright status. Thank you very much for bringing this issue up. We clearly have the right to use the images here under "fair use" AND we also have a responsibility to make very clear that we do not own the images. - This pages has a footer: saying:
- Content is available under a Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 2.5 License.
- it should read
- this does not belong to the logos used.
- The german wikipedia believes that you don't have the right to use it, they remove one logo after the other out of de.wikipedia.org.
- If WikiIndex has the disclaimer in the footer and something like {{FairUse}}-Tag on the imagepage, I would upload the Logos of our Wikis

Thank you! I propose a footer that says: Content (other than logos) is available under a Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 2.5 License. Logos are displayed here as "Fair Use", with copyrights retained by their owners.
I further propose that the Upload file page include some kind of copyright warning, telling people that logos of wikis are fair use and copyrights remain the property of their owners and that any other file or image must be licensed under a compatibile license to our own.
