Wikisimpsons – the Simpsons wiki, is a wiki for fans of the The Simpsons. It is an expanding database on all aspects of The Simpsons.
The wiki was started on the 24th September 2005 by Postbagboy who didn't make a single mainspace edit and left. Since then, the wiki has gone through several transformations, getting a new skin in the beginning of 2010 and a new team of admins.
On the 24th September 2010, Wikisimpsons had its fifth birthday. In October 2010, a decision was made to split away from Wikia and become hosted on ShoutWiki. This was due to a new skin released by Wikia and arguments with the staff. Solar Dragon became the founder and steward of this new wiki.
In June 2011, Wikisimpsons completed its move to independence. It now runs on MediaWiki with a nice custom skin. It has since grown very quickly, now beating its Wikia competitor by over 10,000 articles. This independent wiki is funded by way of advertising from GoogleAds.
For April Fools Day 2012, it was "changed" to a Family Guy Wiki for a day. On project pages, many words like "Homer" and "The Simpsons" were changed to their Family Guy equivalent.
On 9th August 2013, Wikisimpsons started a server move. This server move was completed on 11th August. Wikisimpsons also moved to the new URL of simpsonswiki.com.
In February 2014, Wikisimpsons Answers was founded at answers.simpsonswiki.com. Despite the name, this is not a wiki, but is a question/answers site for anything related to The Simpsons.
