WikiFootprints is a compendium of product environmental impacts. Objective information on the impacts of products and services is often difficult to obtain and utilize. WikiFootprints is a web-based project to create a free compendium of the environmental impacts of products and services. The goal of the WikiFootprints project is to give consumers an easy way to include the environment in decisions to consume a product or service.

WikiFootprints primarily contains two types of articles: comparison and product. Comparison articles allow consumers to quickly compare the environmental impact of a range of products. Product articles offer more detailed information on the environmental impact of a product in each stage of its life cycle. Product information includes:

  • Carbon footprint (greenhouse gas emissions)
  • Energy use
  • Water consumption
  • Material use
