WikiLou aims to become "The collective knowledge of St. Louis, MO". By utilizing MediaWiki's open editing, everyone can contribute their knowledge of the St. Louis area, and this will lead to an easily searchable database of knowledge larger than any other about St. Louis.
As of 2012, the MediaWiki software has been changed from OpenEdit to ConfirmEmail. It previously had a subtle custom skin designed by Paul Gu,[1] but latterly used the default Vector skin. It became heavily spammed.
