Scratchpad is large English language Wikia wiki. It is a place to test wiki ideas before you launch a full wiki, and a place for small collaborative projects that don't need a whole wiki. The database is shared with other mini wikis, but your project will have its own listing of recent changes and all pages as long as you use category tags. If you create a mini wiki on Scratchpad, and want to out-grow it to its own site, all content can be copied over to the new wiki – and indeed, some current Wikia wikis started on Scratchpad.
