Cantonese (traditional Chinese: 廣東話; simplified Chinese: 广东话; Jyutping: Gwong2 dung1 waa2; Cantonese Yale: Gwóngdūng wá), also known as Yue Chinese; ISO 639-3: yue, Glottolog: cant1236[1], is a branch Chinese language originating from the city of Guangzhou (historically known as Canton) in China. It is the official language in Hong Kong and Macau.
