The Shiren the Wanderer Wiki was a wiki site created as a gameplay resource for Mystery Dungeon: Shiren the Wanderer for the Nintendo DS on Wetpaint. A fork for the Nintendo Wii title Shiren the Wanderer was also created in 2008; Shiren the Wanderer 3 Wiki. As fans learned more about the series, the project grew to encompass the other three titles released on the Nintendo DS, and later incorporated the PS Vita port of Shiren 5 DS.
WikiFoundry acquired Wetpaint in 2013. The wiki went into a period of inactivity in 2014 and would be shut down by WikiFoundry in 2016 due to anonymous spammers vandalizing the site. The site was saved by Shiren1111 / Nerthing and later joined by rhaining who both began to clean up and re-format the project. As WikiFoundry began to deteriorate in 2018, the decision was made to fork the wiki to Gamepedia.com. The Shiren 3 fork was absorbed into the Gamepedia Shiren the Wanderer Wiki alongside the Shiren the Wanderer 3 FAQ by AverageLemonade on GameFAQs.
The Shiren the Wanderer Wiki, and the Shiren the Wanderer 3 Wiki were both deleted on 1 June 2021 as WikiFoundry's service ended. The Gamepedia.com Shiren the Wanderer wiki became the Mystery Dungeon Wiki on 11 September 2019. On 7 November 2020, the wiki was taken independent and rebranded as the Mystery Dungeon Franchise Wiki where the various Shiren wiki's content lives on.
