Koch-Wiki (cooking wiki) is a free collection of recipes, tips, and tricks all around cooking, baking, and adjacent topics. It was founded on 17 August 2005 by Daniel Beyer as Rezepte-Wiki. The wiki uses the Creative Commons Attribution Share Alike license (CC-BY-SA), as most Wikimedia Foundation (WMF) projects (except Wikinews) also do.
The wiki aims at building a database for recipes linked to pages on ingredients and cooking techniques with many pictures so as to make it easy even to the unexperienced to prepare a dish. This is where the Rezepte-Wiki is different from most cooking websites.
In November 2014 the most active editors of Rezepte-Wiki left the platform due to excessive spamming the operator had not blocked for quite a long time. Instead, they founded the Koch-Wiki which basically is a fork of the content that had been gathered in Rezepte-Wiki. They moved there on 29 November 2014.
On 27 August 2015, Rezepte-Wiki went inactive, redirecting all requests to Koch-Wiki which is its official ancestor ever since.
