Secpedia was a web-based collaborative information security encyclopedia. The portal was based on the wiki model, launched back in May 2012. Anyone with access to the portal can make their contributions to Secpedia even without making an user account. The main focus of Secpedia is on hacker conventions, terminologies, tools, portals, etc. All the text contents on Secpedia are licensed under Creative Commons Attribution Share Alike license (CC-BY-SA). The wiki runs on the popular MediaWiki wiki engine, with the Semantic MediaWiki plugin, and a fresh-looking custom skin, and was funded by advertising.
Secpedia aims to bring verifiable legitimate information regarding any topic it covers, thus bringing more standards to the industry. It can be helpful for information security researchers, students and other technology enthusiasts.
Secpedia is a project to create a free information security encyclopedia. It is built by the collaborative effort of Secpedians all around the world without payment. Anyone in this world can contribute to Secpedia at any point of time, they can also choose themselves to show their identity or stay anonymous.
Secpedia strongly believes in "Learning by sharing". All the texts written on Secpedia is under copyleft license, thus making it valuable to the whole world. Secpedia has been highly inspired from Wikipedia and Wikitravel. We also operate under the five pillars of principles. Secpedia is built with a Wiki software, which lets collaboration more easy, allowing each and everyone in the world to make changes. The collaboration is enhanced by a collaborative database built with Semantic MediaWiki. |
