This wiki is basically the DreamHost Web Hosting manual. It will also contain a lot of non DreamHost-specific information relating to web hosting.
Wiki.dreamhost.com serves the same purpose as our knowledge base, with one major difference. All articles at wiki.dreamhost.com are editable by anyone who registers. That means that what you read here could be incomplete, incorrect, or in conflict with DreamHost's policies.
However, as Wikipedia has shown, this is usually not the case with community-editable knowledge bases. In fact, they generally end up being more accurate, complete, and up-to-date than their centrally-managed brethren. Which is why we're giving this a shot.
If you would like to contribute to this wiki, please make sure that the information you would like to add does not already exist. It may be that such material hasn't yet been properly categorized, so it may be necessary to search for it. Wikis have a particular but simple syntax to produce these nicely formatted pages. If you do add content, please make sure you use the correct markup syntax.
Leadership[edit]
The honchos are or were Sage Weil, Michael Rodriguez, Dallas Bethune, and Josh Jones.[1][2] As of 4 January 2013, there were 18 bureaucrats, including Andrew F ("Full-time DreamHost employee, part-time wiki admin")[3], Dallas,[4], Jkreger ("Your friendly DreamHost wikiologist!")[5], Michael[6], and WesleyS ("I am one of those crazy people that you could call a "Employee". I'm not quite sure what my purpose is, but I'm sure I must have one... right?")[7] One of the more active administrators is Scjessey, a volunteer sysop who struggled against Willy on Wheels.[8]
In the middle of 2016 the wiki got replaced by a conventional FAQ which was no longer community managed.
