Mechelen Mapt is een wiki over Mechelen. De site is een initiatief van vrijwilligers en heeft geen winstoogmerk. Het staat iedereen vrij te bewerken, maar vele pagina's zijn beveiligd tegen spam, dus het is sterk aangeraden een gebruikersaccount aan te maken.
Mechelen Mapt is a Flemish non-commercial wiki about the city and municipality of Mechelen (Mechlin/Malines), a Flemish/ Belgium city. The website is an idea of volunteers who are closely related to its sister blog-site 'Mechelen Blogt'. The purpose of the wiki is to collect as much information as possible, in order to create a publicly accessible electronic 'library' about every corner of the city. The language of the wiki is Dutch, which is much alike Flemish. Though, everyone is still free to add an English translation. It's highly recommended to have an account, because many of the wiki's pages are protected against spam.

Inhoud[edit]
Er wordt veel aandacht besteed aan alles wat met Mechelse cultuur en geschiedenis te maken heeft. In feite is op Mechelen Mapt bijna alles wat met Mechelen te maken heeft toegelaten, op voorwaarde dat het publiek is en encyclopedisch waardig is. De wiki is geen plek om openlijk reclame te maken, noch is het een profielsite.
Lokale aandacht[edit]
De Google-ranking van Mechelen Mapt m.b.t. Mechelse zoekresultaten begint zeer geleidelijk aan toe te nemen, ondanks de geringe lokale aandacht naar het project.
Beheer[edit]
Mechelen Mapt valt onder de vlag van het humoristische "Uncyclomedia Foundation", dezelfde koepel waaronder de parodiesite Oncyclopedia valt. De wiki heeft echter niks te maken met het concept van parodie en is omwille van uitzonderlijke, praktische redenen aangesloten bij dit beheer. Het internationale platform van Uncyclomedia heeft hoedanook niets te maken met Mechelen Mapt.
