WikiIndex: How do you categorize a wiki that is no longer?

frWikiIndex: Comment catégoriser un wiki qui n'existe plus

Temporary connection problem[edit]

If you think that the wiki site may be having a temporary connection problem; use template:Down, and change the |status=   field to 'Cannot connect' in the {{Wiki}} infobox or other existing infobox template.

By using the template:Down, with the additional (preferred) parameter of five tildes (~), i.e., {{Down|~~~~~}}, it will automatically add a time-stamp and date of when the 'Down' template was added to its article page, and will also auto-include into category:Cannot connect.

Permanently dead[edit]

If you are aware that the wiki site is clearly dead, or has been link-dead (404) for a long time; change the |status=   field to 'Dead' in the {{Wiki}} infobox or other existing infobox template for its article page. Furthermore, to provide emphasis that the wiki site is dead, please 'strike-through' the title of the wiki site in the infobox |name=   field, e.g., |name= <s>Italian Deadpedia</s>. This strike-through feature can also be used for the actual article page title using the 'DISPLAYTITLE' function, e.g., {{DISPLAYTITLE:<s>Italian Deadpedia</s>}}.

It is also strongly encouraged to find archive URLs from a web archiving service to replace all existing links in its infobox and prose description where possible. If using links from archive.today at archive.is, please hide or 'comment out' original links (i.e., <!--http://YourWikiURL.org/wiki/Main_page-->) rather than deleting them. If using links from the Internet Archive WaybackMachine at Archive.org, its URLs include the actual original URL, so there is no need hide the original link.
