DishiWiki – everyday cooks sharing recipes.

Mission: a community for everyday cooks

DishiWiki's mission is to create a sense of community among everyday cooks through sharing recipes that use ingredients found in America's cupboards. Visitors to DishiWiki will see some recipes that they know by heart, but a closer look will reveal dishes that are just what they're looking for.

A sense of community also comes from friendly social interaction, and asking questions on DishiWiki is a great way to feel included. New members are encouraged to ask questions, and old hands are encouraged to help newcomers by answering them. In addition to the discussion pages for asking questions about and commenting on recipes and articles, The Mixing Bowl discussion forums are another fun way to talk about cooking and food — or anything else.

Method: the spirit of wiki

We're a wiki community — where anyone can contribute, and everyone benefits. Did you try a recipe but think you can do better? Edit it! We'll be testing the adage "too many cooks spoil the broth". Will recipes be edited to perfection? Keep coming back, and find out.

Enjoy

Find a kitchen-friendly recipe, print it, and share it. Browse recipes by category. Discover new kitchen tips and techniques. Request a recipe. Subscribe by email or RSS reader to keep up with new recipes, articles and comments.

Share

Share a recipe, or write an article and publish it here. Post your comments about recipes and articles. Join the fray in The Mixing Bowl discussion forums. Exchange private email and private messages with other members.

The WarWiki, from ShoutWiki, will detail information about the earliest known wars and warriors to the most recent and modern wars, like the War on Terrorism, and War on Iraq. It includes articles about other things relating to wars as well, including famous wartime leaders (Neville Chamberlain, Winston Churchill, Joseph Stalin, etc.), and other related subjects and different lists and galleries that give visual aids.

You can help by creating more articles relating to World War 1 or World War 2 - in fact, articles on any real war are welcome on WarWiki! You're encouraged to spread the word about the wiki, since there are many people around the web that are interested in history and wars that would be willing to help.

Wars Wiki, also known as Advance Wars Wiki, is a wiki created for the Nintendo Wars series of games (Game Boy Wars, Famicom Wars, Super Famicom Wars, Advance Wars, Battalion Wars). It is maintained by the members of Wars Central, and expanding slowly since having been established in February 2009. It uses the MediaWiki wiki engine with a custom skin and contains GoogleAds.

Its content was originally released under the Creative Commons Attribution Non-Commercial Share Alike (CC-BY-NC-SA). On 18 February 2018, its parent site Wars Central was announced to shut down 1 March the same year, so Wars Wiki was moved to a new domain, WarsWiki.org, and released under a new license, the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike 3.0 unported (CC-BY-SA 3.0).

Template:Wiki Engine MediaWiki (MW) software is the wiki engine software package that runs this WikiIndex wiki site. Originally designed and developed for Wikipedia in 2002 (though not the original Wikipedia wiki engine from 2001 – that was the Perl-based UseMod Wiki); MediaWiki is now used by the most active and largest wikis, it is also used extensively, and exclusively by other Wikimedia Foundation (WMF) projects; along with many, many other independent wikis, and commercial wiki farms.

The initial 'pre-version' (known as 'Phase II software' in Wikipedia circles) was created by Magnus Manske, and used on all available Wikipedia versions from 25 January 2002. A 'Phase III software' became the first official MediaWiki, and was a substantial re-write by Lee Daniel Crocker; this was first used on the English Wikipedia on 20 July 2002. MediaWiki is compiled and written in PHP, and is probably the most widely deployed wiki engine software. Some would argue that a wiki should be more simplistic, with fewer features; but MediaWikis' design , and its success speaks for itself. MediaWiki has spawned many clones, or 'forks', the most notable being Wikia. MediaWiki is a highly developed, feature-rich software that is released for free under version 2 of the GNU General Public License (GNU GPL v2), and requires either MySQL 5.0.2+, PostgreSQL, or SQLite for data storage.

In December 2008, this fellow found all open installs (Archive.org link) of the MediaWiki code. And until mid 2013, there used to be the MediaWiki Users forums (Archive.org link). Template:WikiEngineFeatures

MediaWiki size information
add /Special:Statistics at the end of the URL – eg. http://YourWikiURL.org/Special:Statistics (non-English language versions will automatically convert this to actual language). Dependent on MW software version, there is a number called 'Content pages' or sometimes 'pages that are probably legitimate content pages' – use that lower number. Ignore the (often much larger) 'all pages in the wiki, including redirects' number. We can also add MediaWiki site listings to the https://S23.org/wikistats/mediawikis_html.php system which tracks various wiki statistics.
MediaWiki wikiFactor information
go to the /Special:PopularPages page of the wiki – http://YourWikiURL.org/Special:PopularPages.

Wikimedia Foundation, Inc. (WMF), founded 20 June 2003, is the wiki company and non-profit charitable organization[1] responsible for a very large number (over 900 in total) of very active collaborative user-generated wiki sites, which are grouped together by primary subject and known as a 'project'; as well as the wiki engine software initially developed by themselves, known as MediaWiki. The Wikimedia Foundations' major wiki projects started with Wikipedia (encyclopedia), and subsequently expanded to include Wiktionary (dictionary and thesaurus), Wikiquote (quotations), Wikibooks (open content textbooks), Wikisource (free content primary-source and secondary-source texts), Wikinews (news source), Wikiversity (open learning community), Wikispecies (free species directory), and many others as listed below. Most of these 'projects' have separate wiki site versions written in many different languages. There is also the Wikimedia Commons (shared multilingual repository for documents, images, videos, and other media and text files), and the Wikimedia Meta-Wiki (multilingual coordination of issues common to all Wikimedia projects). The Wikimedia Foundations' global reach is nurtured in its Incubator, where all new language versions for all projects are initiated and developed before being launched as a new separate wiki site. The Foundations' most recent major multi-language wiki project, Wikivoyage (a 'travelpedia'), was inducted to WMF in late 2012 (having being independently established in 2006). Also launched in 2012 was Wikidata (a major multilingual central space knowledge base for structured data used on all WMF projects). The newest WMF project is Wikifunctions, launched in mid 2023, is a library of code functions in many different programming languages.

Wikimedia Foundation, Inc. is a member of the Open Source Initiative (OSI). Furthermore, the Wikimedia Foundation is a United States 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, granted April 2005, and headquartered at 1 Montgomery Street, Suite 1600, San Francisco County, State of California 94104, United States of America.[2]
