SmashWiki, the Super Smash Bros. wiki, was founded on 15 July 2006, originally at www.SmashWiki.com and hosted by Smash World Forums, to gather detailed information regarding the Super Smash Bros. series of video games from Nintendo. Content includes character bios and strategies, info on the stages fought on, description of the characters' attacks, and competitive information such as slang and 'smashers', players of the series.
On 29 February 2008, SmashWiki merged with Wikia's Super Smash Bros. wiki, the Super Smash Bros. Wiki, and was hosted on Wikia's servers (at Super-Smash-Bros.Wikia.com).
In 29 October 2010, due to Wikia's new skin and issues with Wikia staff, SmashWiki split[1] from Wikia to a private independent server (at www.SSBWiki.com), and it subsequently became part of the Nintendo Independent Wiki Alliance (NIWA). Funded by way of on-screen advertising, it is now part of a small wiki farm called Porplemontage.
