Uncyclopedia (or Uncyclopædia), "the content-free encyclopedia that anyone can edit," is a parody of Wikipedia, though Uncyclopedia claims the reverse (and correctly claims that Wikipedia claims the reverse, and vice versa, ad infinitum . . . ).
The goal of this project is to provide misinformation in a satirical and humourous way. Entries tended to be short and random in its infancy. The current partially successful trend at Uncyclopedia is to make all entries very developed and polished. This includes pictures, and even sound bites. Random humor is also on the wane, with preferred articles containing a novel or subtle blurring of the truth.

Table of contents
Uncyclopedia was created on January 5, 2005 by Chronarion and Stillwaters. It was transferred to Wikia on May 26, 2005; Uncyclopedia co-founder Jonathan Huang (Chronarion) sold the uncyclopedia.org domain out from under the project to Wikia in a 2006 backroom deal and Wikia moved the content to uncyclopedia.wikia.com over the objections of the community on October 23, 2008. Further problems occurred in 2012, as Wikia censored images and placed disclaimers on the site; these were major factors in the decision of the majority of users to leave Wikia and establish an independently-hosted site at Uncyclomedia on January 3, 2013.
Wikia forced the previous wiki to remain live, as the Wikia-hosted "Uncyclowikia" contained over 29,000 articles, making it the third largest Wikia wiki at the time. The few users that stayed behind continued to maintain their version of the site as a direct competitor until 2019, when Wikia (now Fandom) forced the remaining Uncyclopedia projects off its servers in March due to its problematic unmoderated content: articles such as "masturbation", "blow job" and "child porn". The Wikia userbase voted to move back with the original userbase at Uncyclomedia, which was completed at uncyclopedia.co in May.
The community at Absurdopedia, the Russian-language Uncyclopedia, also moved from Wikia in October 2010.
After the closure of the Wikia-hosted "Uncyclowikia" in May 2019, several users from the site were unhappy at the decision to move to Uncyclomedia. This move was complicated in April, when administrators from uncyclopedia.co discovered during the transfer that Uncyclowikia's administration had been almost completely overrun by a sockmaster named Alden Loveshade, who had allegedly used Uncyclowikia to sexually groom underage users as young as 12 in the years after the initial split, and he was responsible for such articles as the "child porn" page referenced above. Alden Loveshade's history on Uncyclowikia was reported to the authorities and his accounts were blocked on Uncyclopedia accordingly, but the fallout from this resulted in the user Llwy-ar-lawr and several other Uncyclomedia holdouts founding their own wiki, the Canadian Uncyclopedia mirror.
This wiki contains a mostly complete archive of unfiltered articles from Uncyclowikia created before the move, such as the purged Alden Loveshade articles, as well as newly-written articles from users opposed to or banned from editing uncyclopedia.co. As such, Uncyclopedia and the Canadian mirror are quick to distance themselves from each other.

Uncyclopedia blocking policy
One of Wikipedia's stated policies is "assume good faith"; Uncyclopedia parodies this as "assume bad faith" - although it's difficult to tell at times whether this is in jest or actively taken to heart by administrators.
A wide range of offences can lead to a block, frequently with a humiliating reason given. Administrator Mordillo stated that their policy is, "We have the 'piss off the admins and they ban you rule'" . It's sometimes hard to tell when Uncyclopedians are serious and when they are joking. They used to block users (as recently as April-May 2008) with the comment, "Your penis is too small." or "Your penis is too small. Come back when you reach puberty." It's impossible to tell if blocks are reasonable as the content that leads to a block is frequently deleted. They also have a funny and humiliating ban message.
Uncyclopedia – or Uncyclopædia – "the content-free encyclopedia that anyone can edit" – is a humourous parody of Wikipedia; though Uncyclopedia claims the reverse (and correctly claims that Wikipedia claims the reverse, and vice versa, ad infinitum . . . ).
